Working as a full-time freelance translator since 1994, Elaine Potvin has close to 30 years of experience in translation and copy editing. After receiving an honour’s degree in translation in 1983 from Université de Montréal, she worked for five years for an international company amongst a team of seasoned translators, terminologists and editors who guided her during her first years as a professional. She then worked for five more years for the Ontario government as a translator and editor before starting a career on her own.
Elaine is a certified translator and member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes du Québec since its founding in 1992. She works essentially from English to French and translates mainly in the following fields: environmental and climatic engineering, occupational health and safety, transport of goods, automation and control, human resources, peacekeeping and federalism. She also applies her creative skills acquired while studying for a creative writing certificate at Université du Québec à Montréal to her client’s requests in the publicity and arts fields.
